Author Bio:

I was born in 1974 in the Eastern Ohio Valley town of Martins Ferry where I lived until I was five then we moved to a very rural town in the same area. I’m the youngest of four children of a mill worker and a housewife but have 15 years between me and my closest sibling.  I grew up with a vivid imagination, which seems to have become active at age four.

Having an imagination and a passion for reading, inventing little worlds and stories in my head seems natural. I began writing for fun mainly to survive reports I was making while being home schooled (illnesses kept me out so the school sent a teacher) and I wrote the most colorful but accurate history reports they’d seen. My passion for writing original pieces came at high school and I still have novels on paper to prove the start of this career.

I’m a 1993 graduate of Buckeye Local High School and still live in the same house I grew up in with my family of my mother and brother, plus three spoiled cats and a semi-fierce Beagle who likes to think he’s a Pit-Bull.

I still enjoy writing stories for fun that I can’t do anything with while I take a break from my original works. I mainly write action/adventure so my series of Celtic Evil, which is a paranormal romantic suspense series, is a slight break for me. I used to write poetry but can only do that in times of stress or deep emotional crisis.

I enjoy writing for the sake of telling a story. I write for myself and for others who enjoy the act of reading a good story. I hope to be able to tell many of those.

Reuniting for the first time since their parents deaths, the brothers must get past the pain, their differences and years apart to begin stopping the threat,.

Roarke Fitzgerald, the fourth born son, has been many things in his twenty-six years but mainly he has been running from his past since the fateful day he witnessed his parents’ murder.

Now, forced to return to the land of his birth to face his shame and pain to protect those he cares for from harm or all that he loves will end.  Can he do that or will his own demons destroy his chance for peace and love.

Can he forget his past and the bitterness he left behind and reform a bond between his brothers that many, both within their family and without, have worked hard to shred? It will take all his power and that if his brothers to take the first step in defeating the demon who sought his death so long ago and now will seek it again if he cannot face and overcome this first challenge

How long did it take to write the book?

About a two months. It was one of those that just came in one flowing piece and never faltered.

What inspired you to write the book?

It started out as one of those dream plots that I do in my head after going to bed and it started as an action book. It took on a paranormal feel all by itself and turned out better than the original idea. There was no inspiration at the start but as it fleshed out more and I looked at Roarke, his past, and his character, it became one to see if he could heal from his past and the guilt he carried.

Talk about the writing process. Did you have a writing routine? Did you do any research, and if so, what did that involve?

My routine to is write, or try to write, on the story every day. Research? Yes, I had to do research on this one. I drove my library insane with requests for books on magic, the paranormal to go with the books I already owned. Plus, I had to find a book on the language since the boys are Irish, I wanted their native language to fit in at certain scenes.

What do you hope your readers come away with after reading your book?

A sense of magic and a belief that even though it seems to far fetched, that magic does exist in every one of us. I hope that they also each come away with different feelings from what happened in the book and of course, will come back for the rest of the series.

Excerpt:

“Sebastian!” Roarke’s eyes flashed and little blue lights danced on his fingers as he shot it toward the wizard. “No games! Release her and face me or say your peace!”

Ian stared as his brother’s attack came within an inch of Jessica. “What’s he doing?”

None of the brothers had an answer as Sebastian narrowed his gaze at the black haired man. “You take great chances with your woman, Roarke.”

“Kill her, kill me. In the end, we all die, so what’s the difference?” He countered as he struggled to maintain a poker face, keeping Kerry out of his head but hooking a link to Jessica just once. “You said you had an offer, so make it.”

Surprised by the tone and attitude, Sebastian finally nodded. “It’s quite simple. Even though I was looking forward to having this cow as my slave, I will release her if you surrender to my will,” he explained easily, holding Jessica’s head up by the hair as he cupped her chin. “She’s very beautiful, Roarke. Have you had the chance yet to taste her?”

A low rumbling could be heard but his face didn’t change expressions as he locked eyes with the man responsible for his parents’ deaths. “And if I refuse?”

“Why, I keep her until I grow bored and kill her,” Sebastian laughed. “Another death for you to live with, knowing you could have spared her if you hadn’t been so selfish. Just like you could have spared your parents if…”

“No, you won’t use that on me,” Roarke replied firmly, swallowing the sour taste in his mouth. “Being here, dealing with you, them, things since then have let me see that I wasn’t the cause of my parents’ deaths. You and my grandmother were. Not me.”

The wizard seemed to consider, looking hard down at this boy. He’d been expecting to see some emotion by now from him yet there was nothing but an icy calmness.

“So you’re willing to give this one to my mercies?” he taunted, letting his hand slide down to part the torn shirt. “My demons and I could enjoy her for a long time.”

“No,” Roarke closed his eyes finally, having slid his hand behind him out of sight slowly. “You won’t.”

Sebastian smiled, pleased. “So you will surrender to me.”

“Didn’t say that either,” Roarke returned, bringing his hand back into the open to show the glowing orb. “I’d see her dead myself before that happens.”

  1. Cool! This is the kind of story I can sink my teeth into so-to-speak. It is amazing that you wrote it in only two months! But I do understand how sometimes a story can just pour out and nearly write itself. Your excerpt has me hooked therefore you can bet I’ll buy this book.
